Background
Concentric was retained to provide design, proposal development, and project management for the expansion of an existing fertilizer plant located in Yorkton, Saskatchewan.
Approach & Methodology
The expansion was to include product shipping at a capacity of 200 tonnes/hr, receiving, and 2800 tonnes of fertilizer and micronutrient storage with six (6) separations. A loading office to hold two people was also required. Concentric was responsible for the creation and submission of the project proposal to the owner. Following approval, the scope of work undertaken by Concentric included:
- Engineering design (preliminary, foundation, structural)
- Specification development
- Groundwater and subsoil investigation
- Procurement process
- Construction, installation, and project management services
- Commissioning
Construction of the facility expansion was completed in March of the following year.
Key Challenges
The necessary blending equipment required long lead times, creating schedule conflicts. Concentric and the general contractor mitigated this problem by fabricating custom equipment for this project.
