Background
Concentric was retained as Prime Consultant and as Structural Designer for a 24,000 square foot freezer addition to an existing vegetable processing plant.
Approach & Methodology
Working closely with the contractor, Concentric prepared structural and architectural construction drawings suitable for permit purposes, and provided construction review services until project completion.
Key Challenges
Freezer building design and construction is unique as compared to conventional buildings, as typically the temperature within the building is significantly less than the outside temperatures. As such, particular attention has to be paid to elements such as thermal bridging, heat gain and air infiltration. The design of such a building must ensure that all these elements are considered while still maintaining an economical approach.
